I'm a cynical pessimist. Rarely disappointed, occasionally pleasantly surprised. :D

My prediction is that he will wait till the last day/minute and veto it. That will not give the legislature enough time ot even try to overide. Dead in the water. All the bad people win, Gove don't care about us and he gets lib cred and all the elected reps that voted aye get to say we tried even though I suspect they knew all along exactly how it would end.

I stand by my earlier prediction.
Of course he is getting negative feedback from the LEO co
mmunity, look at the response from the LEO crowd here.

If it doesn't pass, we need to seriously vote out ANYONE who did not support it.
Make it a litmus test.
44 other states have it. Its time we got on the right side of this. even California has it.
As does vermont.
And virginia.
Are we less suited than these states for this simple God given right?
time to vote in 2010! even more so now!

Motion to reconsider expired today, the bill status is now referred for enrollment which means it'll be printed and on his desk in the next day or 2. He then has 5 business days to decide what he wants to do. If he does nothing, or signs this becomes law 11/1/2010, if he vetoes on the last business day we may not have enough time to even try a veto over ride this legislative session which means we have to try again next year.

So can somebody explain to me why Duncan put HR 3354 on ice for a week (a.k.a. Notice served to reconsider vote by Representative Duncan)?

It's the only way he has to protect it from someone else in the majority ( the ones voting nay third vote 37 and voting nay fourth 24) vote taking it and getting it and basically locking it up. I think he has done his best with what he was given to work with. I think thats how it works. I was always taught in the army mouth shut eyes open.

The rest of them could have motioned to reconsider today though right? Doesn't the intent only protect it until the last day?

I think he blew it, to be honest. With him serving the notice, he could have made the motion at anytime on Wednesday or Thursday. With the margin they had, the RIGHT thing to do would have been to make the motion on Wednesday.

The way I read it, the vote would have had to take place immediately, but it's kind of vague. If someone knows better, I will rescind what I stated in #407.
