Help me pick a revolver

I'll be the first to admit, I am no wheel gun fanatic. I don't know all the model numbers off the top of my head like some people do.

I am after an investment piece. something that looks like Sex on a stick. I have seen some revolvers and they are like a fine piece of art to me. take the Colt Python OMG this would be ideal only I don't have quite that much to invest.

SO for something a little easier on the pocketbook. under 1G

give me some of your favorites that you think will at least hold there value if not appreciate.

Can't go too far wrong with a Python. Same with some early S&W's.

I have a S&W 629 (no-dash) that Larry Kelly tuned and ported. Not sure if it is an "investment" but it a very nice wheel gun.

A first generation S&W 617 might be a good long-term investment. They pop up on Gunbroker every now and then.

There are some Colt Pythons at the Cabelas in Okc. You may have to take out a loan to get one.

Quality revolvers in 327 Federal Mag.
Ruger SP101 and single seven come to mind.

Any S&W prelock 36 or 60 will appreciate nicely.
Look for something that was unique from the factory.

A nice Nickel plated Colt Detective Special falls in your price range as well.

To me the "sex on a stick" revolvers are the S&W pinned and recessed versions. Choosing which model in which configuration, now that's a whole other thing.

I once owned a nickel 19-4 that was just too nice for me because I was afraid to use it in fear of scratching it up, but if I was into collectors I definitely would have kept that one.

Since you posted that Nickel 19, it reminded me of a Nickel model 57 I used to have. Hated to shoot it cause it was too purdy. As luck has it, Cabelas also has a Nickel 57 and 29 in their used section.

what kind of prices are on the cabelas stuff? Are they ever flexible since they are on consignment?
