I was making about a $1.50 an hour- Getting that job at Humpty Dumpty bumped me to $1.80 in '73- then I moved to the meat department and as an apprentice went to $4.40 in '74. I was senior- man I cut a fat hog till I got married and had to start walking the line. Seems like the Vietnam war ended, and inflation kicked in big time then to. The cheap everything started going up and has never stopped. My take- all the socialism Johnson slipped in while Vietnam was going, kicked in without a way to pay for it.

Onion rings no onion? Which Sonic are you frequenting so I won't visit there? Every time I get them they are great even without the beer batter.

He showed me the batter but not the recipe.
That was a long time ago and I do not remember which Sonic. I have run into it at a few other fast food places thru the years too. I think they buy cheap bags of pressed and formed "onion rings"

Remember when they used to put these on the rim of the cup?

I also remember a place in Claremore back in the 70s, in Ne-Mar Center, back behind KFC called Coney Islander. They sold three mini hot dogs with mustard, onions, chili and cheese for $1.

I try to stop at Lenox when I'm in Enid around lunch time. Usually there are at least 4-6 cars in the lot and quite a few call in orders because they don't stay long. If you were in Enid do you remember the A&W at the south end of Van Buren in the 60s. The Flamingo has a good burger too.

Mr Peanut had inflation numbers only surpassed by Pedo Joe.

Had a neighbor that stopped me, in the yard. He was ecstatic, had got his reappraisal on house taxes. His house value was up from $42 to $58k.
I told him I was on my way to Assessor's office to complain. He was confused. I should be happy, I had only lived for year and half. Look how much my value was up. Explained they were only raising taxes. He says, no, tax rate is same.
I point out that 2x3 is 6, 2x4 is 8. The 2 didn't go up. Took a minute, a couple more explanations and he rode to Assessor's with me!

there was a house for sale in Mustang for $200k. I looked up canadian valley's assessors' website to see the property. It was sold back in 2021 for $150k and back in 2010 for $90k. It was built in 1982. In 2002, it went for $74K.

Pretty good ROI in 2021 if sold!!!

The oldest remaining Sonic restaurant is the Classic 50s on Lindsey in Norman, just east of McGee. Back in the late ‘90s, Sonic tried to buy it back from the guy who owned it, but he refused to sell, so they built a new one right next to it. Apparently, their move was to try to drive him out of business.

That “new” Sonic is an abandoned parking lot now (I guess they moved it to the corner of Lindsey and McGee), but Classic 50s is still there (or was, the last time I was over that way).
