This was years ago and this fool used his real number with Nevada area code. How do you know the scammer was in Nevada?
I googled the number when you could do free accurate reverse look up.

Yep. And with AI, get ready to hear familiar voices from familiar numbers requesting money. There is so much of this crap going on, and I’m sure it will only get worse as AI development grows.
I concur, report it. I reported an obvious scam. I had collected a bit of evidence. Reported to Sheriff. He was all over it. His M-i-L was scammed out of $13k. He didn't recover the $$$, but she doesn't get robo calls.
I used to ignore any number that wasn't in my contacts. With Wif's illness, too many Dr calls and I have to answer, now.
Many of the calls, I mess with them. Have been called racist and hung up on, many times. Those with strong accents are my favorites to insult.
The biggest problem, the more calls I answer, the more I receive. Confirmed active numbers sell for more.
Wif's number is 1 digit from mine. She will get an unknown number call. Seconds later, I get a call from same number.
I have received scam calls from my number and from Wif's number to my phone.
Most fun is answering a call and thick accent says, "this is Bob calling about"
I interrupt, "Bob? sounds like Habib."
Obviously irritated, they continue.
I interrupt, again, "can you get someone that speaks ENGLISH, I don't understand Habib."
Very Obviously irritated, they continue their script.
I interrupt, with a question about their product. Their demeanor gets friendlier, as they eagerly want to answer my most important question.
"Do you prefer camels or goats? Is the smell offensive or they don't object?"
Normal response is a string of expletives, yelling racist and phone disconnects.
One time, I received an immediate call back, from the number. "Hello, this is James, Bob's supervisor. He was very rude and I would like to help."
"Yes, he was rude. I asked a simple question and yelled, then hung up."
"Please Sir, let me help."
"Do you prefer sex with camels or goats?"
"You racist MF!" and a dead phone.
That number called Wif's phone. I answered, "is this Habib?"
Expletive and immediate disconnect.
I managed to keep a Medicare salesman on the phone for 45 minutes. Told them to mail me a ton of information. Finally, asked where they got my number. Told him I was 28 yo and didn't think I was eligible. He asked if I still wanted info mailed? Of course I did. What a maroon.
Why? I’d rather talk to and be ripped off by ai than in-laws.Yep. And with AI, get ready to hear familiar voices from familiar numbers requesting money.
Immediately hang up and call said individual back.
When I lived in Houston I got a lot of these calls. I started answering known callers with “Harris county sheriffs office” they would hang up instantly. it took about a week but I have never received another scam call.I use to get a call from a IRS agent telling me that i have a arrest warrent out and i need to come in, and i told them to just come and get me i would have a better life behind bars than i do now and never heard back from them. and that was five years ago. Now days if your name and number isnt in my phone directory it doesnt get answered and gets blocked at the end of day.
So I get a call with a number I don’t recognize from Midwest City. Goes to voicemail.

It’s not my name, and the transcription left out Kay County as where the warrant was issued.
So, I went to a reverse number look up. The call came from what appears to be an Army recruiting station.
Then looked up the call back number and got a name in Midwest City. Took a screenshot, then went back to the original call number to screenshot that number. Whoa! Now the number no longer shows as an army recruitment office, it now shows a woman’s name in Midwest City. Took a screenshot of that one.
Obviously this is a spoofed phone number and an attempt to scam some money from me, although the name is not mine.
Would it be worth contacting the Midwest City Police Department to report what’s going on in their town and see if they want me to play along?
This kind of crap really makes me mad because there are some that might just fall for it.
What does OSA say?
Is there A/C in jail? PSO says they are cutting our power from 8AM to 12 PM tomorrow to do line maintenance. What a good idea to schedule this in the middle of a heat wave.,So I get a call with a number I don’t recognize from Midwest City. Goes to voicemail.
