Minding my own business in the driveway of my buddies house, rookie circles the block thrice...

Finally pulls in, and instructs me via loudspeaker to keep my hands in plain view, away from my G17RTF2... Steps out, Asks me if I'm a permit holder, I reply yes. He asked to see it, I explained it was in my wallet, 3 inches behind the holster. He asks if I would slowly unholster/unload my weapon for his safety. I politely decline. I explain I do not want to touch my gun in his presence... He asked to remove it for me. I not so politely declined. He calls for backup lol... Another (senior) officer arrives, family friend... Tells me to have a happy thanksgiving. Had a good laugh after the scene cleared up.

This is the first I've even heard of someone being asked for their SDA card. On private property, and without a MWAG call? Interesting. Glad that some experienced officer was available to "deescalate" the situation. I like how you handled it.

I felt bad for the senior officer. Saw him at breakfast this morning, he was apologetic. Known him for years, he used to be our weekend DD. He was the first person to show us tannerite...lol... He's a classy guy too, all this morning sitting with the old men at the coffee shop, he refused to tall smack on the rookie. It's not our first go round with the first timers though. We hunt the kind of town that sees 4-5 new cops each year. Come in, make commission, get new job. It's fun to mess with em though.
