My wife will be getting one. She till has her 3GS and has loved it fo over 3 years. She will upgrade for the speed of 4G.
This will be the first iphone for me. I have used the ipod Touch for over a year now and it's performance has sold me on Apple. I have used Android devices and I do not like the Android OS or the support system for it. So I'm gonna step out and hope the limb doesn't snap off under me.
I've got a 3Gs, I'm going to upgrade to the 4S.
I don't hate android phones; I just know that I personally won't use the more open-ended features of them, and that I will appreciate the more polished, finished experience with the iPhone.
The 3Gs is the first phone I've ever had that I haven't been rushing to replace the moment my upgrade was available. It annoys me sometime because it's slower than newer phones, but I've had it for like 20 months with zero issues.

You will love the 4s. The screen, speed, design, and camera will blow you away, as compared to your 3gs
I ordered mine at 2:10am this morning! People that hate apple are just like people that hate glock. They might not always have the most up-to-date specs, but everything they do have is the best on the market. The best operating system, best looks, best everything. If you have a timeless design then you don't have to change it every couple months.
If by timeless you mean old and boring, then yeah, you are definately spot on! Same goes for Glocks!
