I've only been here a couple years and never had the chance to read any of your husbands post or talk to him, but you have my thoughts and prayers and condolences. I think only gun nuts really understand gun nuts. Even a lot of people that own guns think gun nuts are...well...nuts, but really most of us are just enthusiasts that's all. You can be a car nut, a fishing nut, a hunting nut. To me all it really means is your avid about your hobby, nothing more nothing less. God Bless you and your husband.

I am so sorry to hear of Nic6 passing away. We spent some quality time on the phone even though we had never met in person.
You have my most sincere condolences and sympathy when hearing about this.
RIP friend.
He was a quality human being and will be missed by all.
He talked about you, it meant so much that he was able to connect it a random internet friend who worked in the energy industry. Thank you for the friendship you provided him. He really did get a kick out of talking to you.

My prayers and condolences to you. And thank you for being the woman you are/were to Nic… not all get/understand it

I'm so sorry for your loss, I lost my wife of 44 years just one year ago this past Wednesday, so I get it.
I am so sorry to hear that, we only had about 17 years together. I can't imagine the hole left after 44 years. God bless you and your family as you walk through the worst and weirdest time.

Thank you! When I described him I always said, "My husband is a....... Firearms enthusiast". Which meant gun nut, but he always laughed.

In the hopes that the wife of @nic6 is occasionally checking back to see the comments from us here at OSA, I did go out and take some pictures today. I went to the 1889 Oklahoma Land Run Commemorative park with all the statues depicting the run and tested out my new camera and lens.

So, I did my share of shooting. Below is one of the pictures that I took, and below that is a link to my Smugmug site with those new pictures.

Terry's Commemorative Photos for Nic6

As an added note, the sculpture of the series of statues depicted the driver of the above wagon as a "self-sculpture." Of the 47 sculptures planned, their website states that 45 have been placed.
I didn't even know this existed. But we did buy a gun a that bass pro shop last year. My family ran in the land run and Nic's family came over in the trail of tears. We are true Okie's, through and through. Thank you for sharing this. It will be a place I'll take the kiddos so we can connect the dots through the ages. Thank you so much!

People tell me that all the time... "I can't imagine what you're going through."

They can imagine it. All grief has some similarities, but losing a spouse has some unique qualities. They won't fully comprehend it, but they can imagine it.

You and I are probably different in many ways, but you are going through the same thing that I am still going through. You get it. I have appreciated every expression of sympathy, but I feel a special connection to people who have been through this. Feel free to PM me if you want to talk. I don't have it all figured out, but I will understand much of how you feel.

To get to the Land Run statues, merely drive through the Bass Pro parking lot towards the South. There is free parking there. If one wants to take the time, one can also follow the pathways around and walk down along the Bricktown Canal to see the sights there. That area includes those pictures of the Native American brave and the various plaques. I'm not sure of how safe the area is there as I only go in the daylight, and normally I have someone else with me.

To all who knew nic6,

He went on to rest with God on 5/20/24.

He was a member of this community since 2008. I don't know how to express how much this forum has meant to him. But you all were a huge part of his life. Thank you all for your wisdom and humor over the years. This is his wife writing this, and I've heard so many stories from the boards over the years. I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has given my husband advice and laughs. He loved guns so much and this forum gave him an outlet to discuss that passion.

In honor of him, please go out and make something go bang.

From the great beyond,

nic6 (via his wife, you all meant a lot to him)
Heading to the farm this PM. Will rip off a mag of .50s tomorrow PM in his honor.....
