I purchased a Remington 700 VTR in 308 just wondering if they are worth a damn? I read on this thread a few pages back people bitching about the quality. Just wondering if i should sell it and buy another model or just keep it and start upgrading? The primary use will be plinking and every once in a while using it for hog hunting and deer hunting.

IMO its was fairly accurate after sighting in the scope i managed to get a nice grouping. I put about 10 rounds in the bulls eye area all withing a quarter size area. This was at H&H not sure what the range is there but i like the gun

Nope - not worth a damn.

Go ahead and PM me and I'll take it off your hands :D

Remington in general isn't the same quality it used to be - a sad fact that plagues nearly every manufacturer of firearms out nowdays.

Except Savage. :tounge2:

That's actually one of the few manufacturers I was thinking of as the exception to the rule. I'd probably put CZ in that category as well and maybe a few of the top-tier AR makers (I refuse to consider Spikes in that category since they gouged after election day). I don't know that I would quite put S&W in that category yet - they did start making lock-less J-frames again.

Remington is having its fair share of QC issues as well as loose tolerances in machining from what I've read. Even Colt appears to be having an abundance of recalls lately though, so I guess once you get to be the big boy on the block, you gotta hire some lawyers and enact some stupid weasel rules that totally take away from your QC and R&D departments.

:twocents:I think if you like the gun and you can cover up a quater with it, over 30 yards, keep it!

Makes me feel better about my groups with my rifle. At about 120 yards I've hit right at 1 moa with no bipod (just a rolled up towel lol, bipod is on the way). That equates to a 30 yard group that's just slightly bigger than the diameter of the round. :rubhands:

GO SAVAGE! A sub-moa group is coming soon.... I can feel it in my bones...

Range report please, with pics of targets.

The more I hear about these the more I want one and would love to see some real world groups.
