Here are two of my Jeeps, they are work Jeeps, that I built especially for what I use them for.

The 2003 Jeep Wrangler Renagade I use to show property in Eastern Oklahoma, and in other areas, that is hard to get to.

The other is a 1984 Jeep J20 3/4 ton with a 401 engine, I use to pull, a duel axel trailer with a John Deer tractor, that has a enclosed cab, brush hog, back blade, and front end loader. Plus sometimes I use it to haul my other trailer to gun shows.

I have another one which is a Jeep GrandCherokee Limited, I call it my Sunday go to meeting vehichle. It stays in the garage.

As you can see I am a Jeep person.

Do you use that Renegade to talk directly to the astronauts?

I kid, I kid - those are bad-ass Jeeps man.

No, I would need my 2meter/440 handi talki and my directional Yagi antena to do that, I am not kiding, I am a Ham operator. When I was a Teacher my students and I would talk to the astronauts in the space station doing that when they would pass over head during our alloted time. We would also use the communication satalites (Satcoms) repeaters and that same 5 watt handi talki and talk to states all over, and also South America.

The one in my Renagade, now that is a different story, it is HF and if the conditions are right I can talk anywhere in the world. I am running 2 batteries, a very big Alt. and a Very big Lin. Amp. I use SGC equipement and Yaesu. The Hams will know what I am talking about.

Hmmm, I might need to pick your brain on radio equipment for my Jeeps. I am wanting to do a system that would keep them tied to a base station at home. It sounds like you would have some idea of what I need. Got any recommendations for local or on line groups?

Most of your Jeep clubs, and jeep guys just run CBs (11 meter AM very noisey) legal watts should be if I remember correctly about 5 watts enough for short range communication between jeeps.

If you want to get your Ham ticket (license) You can use 2 meter 440, some HF and several others and legal wattage is 1500 watts. You can use repeaters your distance is unlimited.

There is also this new FRS I think the distance is limited.

Then there is the business type radios, which are good.

Stop by sometime and I will give you a demo.

Your J-20 is TITS, Mark!

When you are ready to hand it over....

.

It took me a long time to find that one, and to get it to where it is today. It is a project that I am not finished with yet. I still have not solved the rust problem that keeps comming back after cutting it out and going back with new metal and paint. I will win this one before I die!
