But HIPAA does in fact exist . . .There is no such thing as HIPPA.

Never said otherwise Brofessor.
It was a HIPPA vs HIPAA comment. Our Privacy folks get pretty testy when people say stuff wrong.
What I said was not wrong. So ...
The "privacy" folks should know better.
Why aren't you calling out those that say "HIPPA"? Do they get testy about that wrong stuff?
It makes those that think they are "in the know" look like they don't know.
Again, there is no HIPPA.
Where did I say it was wrong? You seemed confused about what I said so I clarified it. I didn't say you were wrong, I said HIPAA existed.
I clearly said our Privacy folks in fact do know better and correct those to use HIPAA instead of HIPAA. I am not one of those privacy folks . . . soooooo.
Not sure what your issue is or why you thought I was jumping on you, but if I need to make sure everyone who is using HIPPA in this thread sees that they're using the wrong acronym I can try encourage them to stop.
Agreed. There is in fact nothing HIPPA that relates to this . . . just HIPAA.
Oh good grief.Go find another post to argue with, OK?
If you're a patient, you should probably assume your personal health information can't legally be shared with the news media or your relative's nosy spouse. Beyond that there's probably a way it will get shared, perhaps beyond your desire. Can confirm. The penalties for breeches can be pretty steep. Mandatory annual training and whistleblower protections- admin drums privacy protections into your head.
