The posting was about Central Oklahoma .The deer- on average- are much smaller in Central and Eastern Oklahoma.
You will find 160-200# bucks pretty common in central Oklahoma as well.

.243 is good for deer. My great uncle killed an elk with a .243 in Colorado.

Still here in the house as he has not even shot it since then.
I hand load and I have killed a few deer with it.
Never had to track any of them with this bullet.
Of course the .243 likes a lot of bullets and deer not so much.

Good choice, it's a good caliber. Tons of ammo available, most anywhere.
