So the weeds are so bad in my yard that it could use a mowing already. I am tired of the weeds and my yard looking like cr@p.

I remembered that I had some Amine 2 4-D in the shed, hook up the hose end sprayer and spray the front yard. After I finish I came in and got to looking at that stuff. WOW! I am amazed!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2,4-Dichlorophenoxyacetic_acid Agent ORANGE?

And just a question, what should I do next to get my yard under control? Should I just wait a few days and see if this stuff is going to have any effect or should I go over the top of it with a granular weed/feed? When should I do my next application? What should my next application be? Is this still the season for pre-emergent? I have so many questions and nobody in my family takes care of their yard, they just mow the weeds down and don't worry about it.

Just call a local lawn company. Let them treat it for a season or two then do it on your own. Makes a huge difference. I didn't look at that link but if its anything like AO, get rid of it right away.

Get your kids a couple 4 wheelers, change your oil out front, stake a pitbull out on a chain and that grass won't be such a problem.

Other than that, contact the OSU Extension Office in OKC (Off 10th, just west of the fairgrounds). They have the answers to your questions. Be prepared to have pics of your weeds handy.

Long mowing season last year, seems like it started in March and ran through October.

Hoping this year isn't a repeat of that.

Yes it is still the preemergence time. Get some down. Weed and feed crabgrass preventer is good. Or get some liquid Surflan. If you have a burmuda grass base you could probably get away using Roundup over the next few days. Just not after the bermuda sprouts. Apply the preemrgence in the fall again.

Not in Noble county. I mowed less last year then I can remember. I even lost 5 big pecan trees due to the drought.

Same here, the last two years I thinks I may have mowed 7 or 8 times combined. The only green was over my lateral lines.
