Made a trip to my local walmart. After calling 4 local stores and found out only one of these carried rifles and shotguns. They had a couple bolt action .243s by Savage and Remington but no youth models. They would order me one but they were more expensive without a scope than the Savage and Rem in the store. The search continues....

Remington 700 youth model, 308 winchester, Remington Managed Recoil loads. The rifle will have good resale value if you decide later to upgrade to something else.

Have you checked with Buds on line??
The Marlin X rifles will also have the youth models.
They were offering some with both the youth and the adult stock, might not have them now though.

Axis doesn't have an Accu-trigger. Recoil lug is "unique" in a "short bus" way. I would stay away.

Well, I've been to 3 Walmarts, 2 Academy Sports, and 2 pawn shops with no luck. Only thing I've found is the Rossi or H&R single shots. Guess I'm going to have to go online to find a bolt action youth model 243. I was really hoping to get my hands on one so I can see if he can handle it before I buy it.
