What “type” is that?
A trophy hunter.

I’ve already said it would likely benefit me in my pursuit of a trophy. I don’t think it’s the right call though. Some dude’s ability to fill his freezer shouldn’t be imposed on by some other dude’s desire for big bucks. And I like hunting mature bucks, but I’d still be out doing it if it was does only.

So what you’re saying is if the state took a buck away but allowed for the meat hunters to kill another doe or two you’d be ok with it?

I’m only ok with it if there is sound reasoning behind it. and as of now- I’ve seen no reasoning, sound or otherwise.

What gets me is there's no way a biologist or even a simpleton would agree that what's best for the deer in NW OK are EXACTLY THE SAME as the deer in SE OK. 2 totally different environments so how could a 1 buck season be good for the entire state? Before I'd get behind a bill like this, it would need to have zones like the antlerless season but honestly more precise down to the county. The county I hunt doesn't have the agriculture/crops that many of the other counties in OK do so I wouldn't go so far as to say we're overrun with does like is said about the entire state. Same for the buck ratio and quality. We have quite a few cameras out and owned this place for 4 years and no bucks seen over maybe 150".

I guess just do what you feel is right in your neck of the woods and vote for/against what would benefit you.

It would be fine with me to leave at 2 bucks as in if it has nuts, it's considered antlered. Some
I fully understand. With having killed 199 raccoons in 3 years here (plus skunks and possums), it certainly helped turn things around. Can't fix the weather though.
Ive been trapping then year around where I've always had them and still nothing. Pretty bleak still in the NW part of the state.

If I'm not mistaken, the drought up there has been raging for a few years? Maybe it was you earlier in this post that pointed out a NW OK drought means zero water and limited brush whereas other regions will still have some kind of water source + browse? The weather will always be the ultimate decision maker in nature and we're all along for the ride.

I'm sure it's a combo of many factors. Drought hurt the deer way worse than the turkeys in my areas at least.
