"Joe ends up with a coffee stain on his pants and a citation for breaking the CCL law."

This is what needs to be changed. It is silly that we have to worry about "printing" or accidental exposure of a firearm. The wind WILL blow, and at some time in your life, you WILL have to bend over to pick something up or what ever. Just my 2 cents worth.

I really don't think open carry should be legal and I hope it doesn't pass. I just dont see the point of advertising you are armed, and unfortuneatly I think we will see a lot more of the wanna be cops roaming around with little fake badges fighting crime.

I am a firm believer in the speak softly and carry a big stick ideology, to me walking around with a gun on your hip for no other reason than to have one just seems silly.

Let me continue by saying that I believe in minimal government intrustion and that nobody should tell people whats best for them, however I see the open carry bill having some negative knee jerk reactions that will ulitmately reduce gun carry rights.

For example gun carrying joe A walks into a gas station, Bad Guy sees the gun on Joe As hip, while Joe A is buying his 6 pack of keystone and a pack of levi garret bad guy walks up behind Joe A and disarms him by simply removing the weapon from his zero active retention holster that came with the weapon. Bad guy shoots Joe in the back before Joe even knows whats going on and then kills the clerk robs the store and flees the scene.

As I see it most crimes are crimes of opportunity and if you look at crime being a triangle (much like the fire triangle heat, fuel, oxygen) You have a (victim, suspect, and opportunity) it seems to give bad guys more opportunity to commit a violent crime with a legal firearm and give the anti-gun campaign more fuel for the fire. Frankly no pun intended the less bullets they have for their argument the better.

You just want the bad guys to carry, right?

Check out Brazil. They're daily "soap operas" are strait up soft core (or worse) porn. The story lines are roughly what ours are, just far more 'steamy'.

Brazil hasn't melted into depravity and nuked itself off the map yet, and they've been this way for a long time. Nudity and sexuality are not taboo there, and as such, it doesn't bother anyone.

Brazil hasn't melted into depravity?

Have you been to Brazil?

In Rio it's completely unsafe to go anywhere but Zona Sul and even that can be dangerous.

Still of the same opinion of this open carry law I've always held. It's become a political peeing contest at this point.

I am a true believer that the 2nd amendment guarantees (the Bill of Rights doesn't grant rights, it guarantees them) the ability of law abiding citizens the right to own any personal arm they choose and to have it available for use wherever they may be. Over many decades this right has been eroded. Anyone who cherishes it should continue to work to have it restored. The reality is that it has been chipped at over a period of time and will have to be picked up and reassembled one chip at a time. Nobody likes it, but this is the only way it will happen without the use of violence or a drastic political shift that is unlikely to take place.

This open carry law would not restore any rights at all. It would still require the government's blessing to exercise it. In a few months there is an outside chance that we could have a state legislature and a governor willing to move in a better direction. IMO, that direction should be concealed carry without permit requirements. VT, AK, and AZ have these now. OK should be next.

I would like to find a District Attorney who would prosecute Joe for that set of circumstances. For most crimes to be crimes there has to be intent, slipping and falling and having a weapon you attempted to conceal become uncovered would not mean you werent attempting to conceal your weapon and any charge, even if a LEO arrested you (which I dont see happening) would be dismissed.

So if that is the reasoning for open carry I would fully support a clause that made accidental exposing of a firearm not a crime.

You see though that is the problem it does not matter whether or not a DA would prosecute or the LEO would cite him.... The point is they could if they choose to, because he committed a crime in that he exposed his Concealed weapon accidentally but there is NO room for accidents when interpreting the law...

Welcome Rino!

It's refreshing to see a LEO that respects the Constitution and the rights affirmed to us by this document. Looking forward to your support!
