Geez..... I just opened the final version of SB1733 on my phone and Damn! It's a demanding read. I'll finish reading it on an actual computer screen in the morning after a few cups of coffee.

Glad it made it this far and hope there are no surprises on the way to it getting signed.

Besides the obvious intent to continue carrying concealed, this does open up the option for open carry at certain social events- like the BBQ gun reference above. I always wanted a "Wild Bunch" 1911 holster, now I have an excuse to get one and a belt to go with it. Maybe a slicked up but stock appearing Milspec 1911 to go in it?

I'm always up for another 1911.

This is gonna end up making some gunsmiths and leather workers some money.

The "Let's change it some more" ship has sailed.
We're down to the Governor will sign as passed or we get nothing this year.

Make a list for next year; laws are always subject to change. :thumb:

It is definitely not to late to correct a "misprint".... There is a chance that the staff simply made a clerical error and failed to replace the language on the engrossed verson..that would be a clerical correcton, not a change to the bill as it was voted on...... Sen. Sykes specifically said before the vote that the passage should read "at first opportunity", not first contact.

Using your reasoning.. if the staff failed to add 'Concealed or Unconcealed Handgun' in one section of the engrossed version... then the whole bill would be voided until next year... instead of just fixing the misprint.

Suppressors are legal. Why in the world would his goose be cooked?
I hear a lot of arguments on this; are they legal or not in Oklahoma, and is a stamp or some kind of license needed? I know it's been answered before and I'm being lazy right now, so if you don't want to answer, then please don't, but, please don't bash me, lol

I have a Ruger Redhawk in .44 mag with a 7 1/2 inch barrel that would look sweet with a cowboy holster and belt with cartridge holders on it.... and a cowboy hat, long hair and a goatee, pierced ear, cowboy boots (no socks) and plaid short pants......

Think anyone would notice? ;)
You almost look like Billy the Kid anyways, ROFL

So, riddle me this. Is a Mossy 500 with a pistol grip considered a "handgun"? I always wondered that but it was kind of a mute point since it'd be tough to conceal. Now I just need a scabbard thrown around my shoulder. :-)

No, it is not a handgun. See below:

3. "Pistol" means any derringer, revolver or semiautomatic firearm which:
a. has an overall length of less than sixteen (16) inches and is able to be fully concealed from detection and view,
b. is capable of discharging a projectile composed of any material which may reasonably be expected to be able to cause lethal injury,
c. is designed to be held and fired by the use of a single hand, and
d. uses either gunpowder, gas or any means of rocket propulsion to discharge the projectile.
B. The definition of pistol for purposes of the Oklahoma Self-Defense Act shall not apply to homemade or imitation pistols, flare guns, underwater fishing guns or blank pistols.

OWB holster at the ready with a polished stainless 1911A1 in 45acp waiting in the wings. It looks just like a Randall from the 80's. The only way to carry such a piece of history is cocked and locked. I'll need to find a pair of shiny 8rd mags and a carry pouch so that everything matches. Anybody that doesn't like it is free to faint on the spot. I'll be happy to step over them.

EDIT: after a few trips with the above setup, I'll go back to the lightweight commander with an IWB holster.

This is confusing. The version I pulled up as the voted-on version has this, which is what I thought you wanted to change:

...with any law enforcement officer of this state or its political subdivisions or a federal law enforcement officer during the course of any arrest, detainment, or routine traffic stop. Said identification to the law enforcement officer shall be made at the first opportunity.

Are you saying you have a copy of what is going to the Gov that is lacking the "at first op?"

Just a thought. If theis does become law those who regularly cross the border into ajoining States need to be aware of the laws. You might cross every day with a concealed weapon now and not give it a second thought. If this becomes law remember to cover up when leaving the State if they don't allow open carry. Many places in Kansas allow open carry but don't believe the other neighbors do. Least I'm sure Texas doesn't.
