Guys it's important to keep in mind...professionals don't always issue meds as a "fix" to the problem, many times it's to help someone level out, and hopefully be able to take advantage of one the various forms of therapy. With the help of your counselor or doctor they will start to modify your meds and if appropriate take you off them. I don't think any doctor really thinks discharging you with a fistfull of pills is your actual care plan.. its just to help you level off so you can sleep, then start to think clearly so you can seek out specialised help. This is generally the deal for these various "life events"... now some folks do have serious psychiatric issues that don't go away and they must follow their medical teams instruction and med routine to the letter....but that's not the main theme of this thread.

And that's what I'm doing. I'm using the meds to level out so I can begin fixing the issue. I have appointments in the near future with a therapist.

I found some comfort relief in just having the pills with me, most times I didn't even have to take them back when I was taking meds.

With benzos, Ativan has the least longest half life, Xanax is double, and Valium has the longest. My wife has some Ativan for sleep problems but rarely uses them.

(Tapatalk)- on the road.

There is a certain comfort just knowing I have the Ativan giving me the ability to stop the big attacks. Just having them in my pocket has calmed me down. I'm glad I haven't had to use them yet.

I went through this since July 1 when I and my wife decided to get divorced. It's by far the worst schit I have had to eat in this lifetime and I got over it without a Dr. or meds (besides those natural ones). I think anxiety and panic attacks are just your mind adjusting to change. Bad change at that. Interestingly I recall from my psychology class 28 years ago, "change" is on the list of top 5 stressors. My stress from the divorce was then followed by the change and it was a double whammy. But time does heal and the mind is more powerful than we give credit to adjust and survive. Its quite a good feeling when you start to beat it actually, like one of those things you can stand back and look at, pound your chest and say hell yeah! I dont know the secret but to acknowledge the stress and look it square in the eyes and tell it to f uck off, that"s what I did.

That's where in starting to get to. Some days are better than others and then one really bad one will sneak in. I know it's my brain adjusting to the change, but my brain is a kind of a dick. Baby steps, just like Bill Murray said.
