Twice I've added a Credit Card to Pay Pal and the Card was compromised...charges show up and I have to dispute them and get a new card. Burned twice so I will never use Pay Pal again.

Is your bank account tied to your paypal? It automatically takes the money from your account if you don't have the funds in your paypal account. Basically, you bought the item, paypal withdrew money from your bank account, you went to bank and added money then went home and transferred MORE money into paypal. So there should be the extra money sitting in your paypal account. Sounds like user mis-understanding to me.

Chances are, your credit card was compromised somewhere else unless you only used it for PayPal - they generally have a pretty good security record with compromises (but are generally A-holes when it comes to conflict resolution).

One of the biggest gripes I have with Paypal is that if you buy from an individual online, and that individual sends you a package (full of rocks instead of a brand new Acog), Paypal only requires the tracking number of the package to your doorstep to confirm that the "item" was shipped.

Disputes over that sort of thing then result in partial refunds - which is crap and when its gun-related, the scammer knows you can't do anything about it because Paypal will say you violated their rules.

This is why you never hit refresh (or click send again if it doesn't look like its doing anything) when submitting financial stuff in online systems.

Not saying that's what you did man but it can sure get you.

Sorry to hear. I've been a PayPal member for 5 years and never had an issue.

Me also, but for like 15 years.

That being said I'd like to be the first to say I hate thier anti-gun mentality.

+1 on all of this...

They feel the same way about motorcycle parts aparently. Sold a Harley motor on ebay, it went to California, paid with pay pal. Guy calls, doesn't like the serial number on the motor, clear pics in the auction, I parted out a wrecked motorcycle. End up on a conference call with pay pal the California Highway Patrol and the buyer. CHP is on my side, I am good...paypal pulls the money out of my account, AND he keeps the motor AND they suspend my priviledges for 30 days....ebay was on my side too!

So, I am out money and motor.:pissed: Big items get paid for with money orders now. If anyone ever screws me...I know how to work the system!

Please don't get burned like I did! :soapbox:
