I can't stand amazon!I learned many years ago that if the question begins with the words "where can I buy...," the answer is probably "Amazon."
and the question didn't start "where can I buy" LOL

This. ^^^
As for searing, I've got plenty of other methods to do that, and I don't typically do steaks on the pellet smoker...
My treager cost me less than a "good" quality gas grill and I havent had to rebuild it once in 17 years lol. Its a quality machine that lasts. I never had a gas grill go more than a few years without needing rebuilt or replaced and I just had enough of that crap. That was back in the day when I did have an offset smoker and the gas grill for grilling steaks. This will do both and there's nothing like a Ribeye with a strong hint of hickory.I can only shake my head in amazement at this thread. You people spend WAY more time and effort on cooking than I do! I’ll have to try something cooked by one of you folks, because I have a hard time believing the results could really be worth all that much investment.
I have always just bought whatever brand was available at the time. I'm using Treager brand now and cant tell any difference. I have stuck with hickory but I want to smoke a ham and use apple this summer.I sure didnt expect this thread to reach 7 pages. But since were here, what are yalls favorite brand and flavor of pellets? So far all ive been able to get my hands on is Pit Boss hickory. I really like how consistent they keep the temp and the smoke flavor. I want to try their competition blend but havent picked a bag up yet.
$20 to eat if I'm hauling my smoker and cookin. This thread sounds like good cause for a "meet and great/cook off", yes???
$10 or $20 to enter, money goes to a predetermined cause agreed upon by the majority. Winner(s) get the title of "winner" , and everyone leaves full regardless lol.
