And I'm pointing out that the mods here are damned if you do and damned if you don't. I've had the talk with so many of you guys behind the scene here that quite frankly I'm sick and tired of it.
You guys can't have it both ways. If you talk like an ass and someone returns the favor WTF am I supposed to do? This ain't a ****ING daycare, for Chrissake. I've had disagreements or some sort with the vast majority of guys who've been here for more than a couple minutes. Plenty of those guys I'm friends because even though we may disagree on gay rights, women's hormonal issues, racial and JBT issues, I don't call people crack-smoking dickheads or any number of things I see you guys say to each other ...
Just because somebody got a PM politely asking them to tone it done does NOT mean they are being picked on ... or that they are the only person whose ever gotten a PM like that ...
Some of you guys are just WAY TOO FULL of yourselves ... the only person you are that special to is your Mom ...

I suppose I'm for it, because I think it would lead to more or less what I really want anyway -- a GD with more relaxed rules and moderation. What would happen is that the "Adults Only" section would become the new GD, and the original GD would go by the wayside, as most people who frequent GD would probably prefer being able to discuss things a little more freely, and everyone else would want to be where the action is. It is no secret that our more "colorful" members make GD such an interesting place... like a bad wreck that you can't help but stare at... and my guess is that most such members would make the Adult forum their new home.
Of course you could save yourself all the effort and just relax things in GD a little. I personally don't care about porn (though a boob gif every now and again is nice), or being able to use ad hominems freely (I generally try to avoid debating at the level of an 8 year old), and I don't feel too stifled by the way language is currently moderated; but I would very much like to be able to freely discuss certain topics that I believe to be of grave importance to the future of this country that are currently off limits, like the threat to freedom posed by police misconduct. If supplanting GD with some sort of "opt in" forum is the only way to make this happen, I suppose I'm for it.

If the language is eased a little bit and people are offended, they can always block a users posts. Most people will self edit themselves most of the time.

This is the thing that it seems difficult.for.guys to understand about me ... I can be perturbed ... Hell, I can be raving FURIOUS at you guys ... but I still love ...

I think my problem on this site is I DO NOT take the internet seriously. Therefore I can't comprehend how people get offended by posts on the internet. Then I come off as an ******* because it blows my minds people even give a **** what I say.
In reality I work for half a dozen assholes and live with a crazy woman. They get me riled up...internet posts don't. I figured most people were the same way.
You could ban me and I wouldn't cry. I'd use me new spare time on PornHub and to crank call my ex girlfriends. It's just the internet.

Exactly with Pirate! One of the largest if not the largest forum on the net. Hell the "standard" not adult areas rules state that you will get flamed for being stupid. Not only is it allowed, it dang near madatory.
So how can anyone say that it won't work.
The old timers and regulars have pretty big idealogical differences too and it still works.
Eventually people get tired of arguing and stop on their own.
