Am I the only one seeing parallels between both YukonGlocker's position on how this forum should be run and any career politician's 'I know better' attitude on how to tweak the great experiment we call these United States of America, as well as the recent increase in over regulation in an attempt to make the same US of A a kindler, gentler, more PC haven for all. Guessing stuff is about to get Orwellian around here.

Also, blood, sweat, and tears? You sound similar to those celebrities that compare their acting or other issues they have to face in their hectic life to the combat that our soldiers face in war.

Don't get me wrong, I'll support whatever decision is made. My opinion isn't based on the history of this forum, or me being a mod. It's based on years of blood, sweat, and tears of scientific study of communities such as forum communities. On the exact issues we're discussing now (and other related issues), I've consulted professionally for Facebook, Twitter, IBM, AT&T, Microsoft, the US Army, FBI, The New York Times, American Association for the Advancement of Science, National Science Foundation, and several other prominent organizations that I can't name.

Whether I'm a mod, or not, I truly care about this forum and can foresee great things for it...only if it's administered carefully. The structure of this forum needs an overhaul...a fresh start. The "old" ways didn't work that well, and neither do the "new" ways. We can either trust a few anecdotes that this or that will work, or trust the unfathomable data that's available which allows us to deductively figure out what works and what doesn't. I'm volunteering a unique and valuable expertise to this forum...it's up to you all to decide if you want to build a community unlike any other, and better than you've never imagined. You won't hurt my feelings either way.

A truck forum that I am on has an 18+ section. Yes, there are still rules. No illegal images, activities, content, etc. It helps keep things locked down over there.

Nobody is talking about a porn forum for chrissakes.

We're looking for a forum where we can make jokes and be sarcastic and not get posts deleted and banned. If we had this section, instead of telling someone in GD they are a bumbling fumblefawk and their half-witted ramblings make me weep for future generations...I would take it to that section. They don't have to read it.

Anyone who lived through the bulbboy era knows it wasn't porn that was being deleted. ~50% of my posts were being deleted. I once made a parody thread of "left my gun at H&H" called "left my nun at H&H" with no cursing or mean spiritedness at all and he promptly deleted it even though he couldn't tell me why it was offensive. Hard to know where the line is after that era.

I don't want a "porn forum". I want a forum where I can talk to people like the guys at deercamp talked to me when I was 12 fawking years old, without someone who had apparently lived a creepily coddled life getting offended. It blows my mind how easily offended people are sometimes. Especially since we all "hate the PC left". Clean yet snarky comments I would say in ftont of my nigh-90 year old grandmother get me admonished here.

I'm a hunter and a gun enthusiast that works in steel shops. I talk like this IRL. I'd wager a good portion of the crew is similar.

Every forum needs a 'tard farm. But it needs to be inaccesible to search indexing, unless of course you want OSA blocked anyplace you access it that uses content filtering, Happened to a motorcycle forum one time when the admin mistakenly let search engines index that section, 5 years and no motorcycle forum at work. Our IT just got a new toy over the summer, the word "model" or "proxy" gets your search blocked..........
