One other thing to consider is the fact that this community has changed over the years. There's many people that would vote "no", and share opinions, on this topic that are no longer here because of way this community has evolved...so this poll/discussion is biased in that way. That's why it's important to consider what we want for the future of this forum, because although making an "adult" forum won't affect much now...it will affect how this community grows and how it's perceived in the future. I like the filthy stuff just as much as anyone else, but I don't think OSA will grow to it's fullest potential if it's here.

If you want evidence, I have a meta-analysis about online forum evolution, community, and in-forum (member) to out-forum (non-member) community relationships. Looking at over 400 forums, and over 5 million people, one of the largest replicable effects is the negative relationship (with any outcome of choice) of adult-themed sub-forums...with one exception, in the case that the main forum is porn based to begin with. It's under review at the journal Science, so I can't share it yet...but it's coming.

seriously, a meta analysis of forum behavior. :rolleyes2 If you don't want to be a part of a permission area then don't be, but don't expect to be loved for throwing a wet blanket on everyone and telling adults what kind of fun they are allowed to have because you don't like it.

Don't get me wrong, I'll support whatever decision is made. My opinion isn't based on the history of this forum, or me being a mod. It's based on years of blood, sweat, and tears of scientific study of communities such as forum communities. On the exact issues we're discussing now (and other related issues), I've consulted professionally for Facebook, Twitter, IBM, AT&T, Microsoft, the US Army, FBI, The New York Times, American Association for the Advancement of Science, National Science Foundation, and several other prominent organizations that I can't name.

Whether I'm a mod, or not, I truly care about this forum and can foresee great things for it...only if it's administered carefully. The structure of this forum needs an overhaul...a fresh start. The "old" ways didn't work that well, and neither do the "new" ways. We can either trust a few anecdotes that this or that will work, or trust the unfathomable data that's available which allows us to deductively figure out what works and what doesn't. I'm volunteering a unique and valuable expertise to this forum...it's up to you all to decide if you want to build a community unlike any other, and better than you've never imagined. You won't hurt my feelings either way.

Rock on,
YG

does it even compute to you, how much you sound like a pretentious ass? I like this forum just fine the way it is, can improvements be made? Sure there is always room for improvement in every aspect of life, but you need to get a grip on yourself.

One thing to consider is that we've chased off 10 fun ones for every one that would say "no".....that's a fact. Again I'll reference Glock Talk.... went through years of moderation that took themselves WAY too seriously. They then let the fun ones have their own forum, within reason as "it's for the children" can only go so far.

Yeah YG sounds a little like a Reddit Intellectual goober there. "I've interneted for several organizations I am not at liberty to name. My expertise is as valuable as my seed, which tastes like candy and shan't be wasted on a common harlot. GOOD DAY, SIR."

Lawl. Isn't he the guy claimed FBI/OSBI ties while threatening to track down a member/get the law involved over an e-fight? I can't even remember who his alleged perp was. Bassin and Matt might. This was OKF 1.0 days. One of the most stunning displays of internet insanity I have ever witnessed. It was beautiful.

Because apparently the OSBI/FBI had a division dedicated to tracking down adults who make fun of other adults on the Internet. I dunno. I'm not an Expert Professional.
