I wrote to Dr. Coburn early on and he sent me a fairly lengthy response. Part of his response was that he would always appose universal background checks and any collection of sales information. I know it's hard to have faith in any politician, but I haven't lost faith in Dr. Coburn even once with regards to the second amendment.

I pretty much agree with this, although I didn't write him with regards to the 2nd Amendment aspects. I have written and received replies from him in the past that has me assured that he is, and always has been, on our side. Now, only time will tell, but I still have faith in him, especially since he is so conservative to continue publishing an annual report on wasteful government spending.

While not wishing to aggravate the OSA membership, there are some that "glom" onto the most ridiculous claims made in the forums, without even bothering to do the research to find out for certain.

We may never know for sure, but maybe Coburn was closer to the NRA stance of improving our current system instead of increasing it. I did see one story that said his idea of UBC was more a voluntary one which would never fly with the left, they want something with teeth that can be used to punish lawful gun owners. So maybe there was never much of a problem with Coburn

I think he was being a wily politician all along. Despite some here that were willing to throw him under the bus! He agreed to be "in the room" but that meant he could hear all the plans. He could ask the uncomfortable questions. He could drag it out for a month or so. (Remember how fast Biden said we were going to have new gun controls?) Then, when the rubber finally hit the road and it was time to support the preferred bill, he walked away. He didn't lose anything by being there and he helped our side out instead.

Glad he is on our side.

The only thing that's going to stop the hoarding is common sense.

It's not hoarding if you can still find your bed...
