Had they set up beside the road, then the top cop got a phone call, escorted several of the "protesters" TO BLOCK THE ROAD, then, began to target certain other protesters. Sentiments would be similarly placed.

My bright red line in the sand is blocking emergency vehicle/first responder access. If someone in my family is bleeding out in the back seat while we're try to get them to an emergency room, or I find out later that political protesters blocked medics/ambulance from getting to my house, then it's not "inconveniencing" people to make a statement, it suddenly becomes very, very personal.

One was a legitimate protest against an unlawful election, the other an ego inflating masochistic act. Getting hundreds of vehicle stuck idling in the desert does nothing to stop climate change and actually puts many people at risk.
There is no consistency with the left. We dont win by playing fair. There is no compromise with evil.
