Rock River 1911s

Rock River makes one of the finest 1911's out there. Every bit as good as a Wilson or Brown......but no where near as good as my beloved Les Baer.lol

I'm certainly not questioning the quality of the gun, just the pricepoint. It IS too high.

I got one of the last frame and slides before they stopped making them awhile back and I didn't pay anything near this, but you're right, this is a bit ridiculous.

I dont see that a MSRP $1650 for their basic carry pistol is overpriced; gtg, gmt, and surjimmy. It sounds to me that in the description, theyre doing a decent amount of hand work to it.

I would consider a Carry model in this price range before I would a high end Kimber or TRP. Be interesting to see how it would compare to a current Dan Wesson.

Their prices seem to be comparable with the checkered frames from Nighthawk, Les Baer, and a little more expensive than checkered Caspian frames available through Brownells. If you don't like front strap checkering, I could understand someone not wanting to spend that much. Otherwise, I can't imagine it would be much of a savings to buy a frame without checkering and having it checkered by a smith. The slides don't seem that much higher than the other top choices either.

Seems like that was 5-7 years ago that they stopped offer those, Did Barry build that frame/slide combo up for you? I think I've seen the pics around here. Do you remember if he had any specific comments or thoughts about the RRA frames or slides?

Do you think this would be comparable to a DW Valor? Because this is only $51 less than the MSRP on an all stainless Valor. I just can't see why anyone would choose it over one of those?
