Why is everyone talking about fakes? Does this dagger look like a fake? The story I got from the guy with the dagger is that it was picked up by his grandfather off the first dead German officer at Normandy on D day.
The first?

I was pulling for you until I read that, ain’t no way.

The first dead officer he came across. His grandfather said he was half buried in a bomb crater he had jumped in as soon as they hit the beach. My bad, I was posting and eating. Almost as bad as texting and driving

Well not to mention the SS were at Normandy but not the SA , there were however SA units in Paris . The story is a tad suspect
It's my understanding that when Hitler dissolved the Brown shirts (SA) in 1938, the men kept their daggers, most went to the SS. It is possible there were many soldiers (Officers) with SA daggers at Normandy that day.

The SA was never dissolved until the Allies took control of Germany in 1945 , their strength was greatly diminished after the night of long knives . With the number of members being reduced by 40% , there were SA units in many countries during the war including SA brigades defending Paris . They just weren't anywhere near the Normandy Landings
