I have two red dot sights on .22 pistols,,,
They are both $40 to $50 buck items from Academy Sports.

Now I want a quality red dot to mount on my CZ-512 Carbine,,,
I have $200 in Cabela Bucks to spend,,,
Any recommendations?

Which brands are high quality,,,
Which brands are junk?

The one confusing thing I see is this,,,
The low priced (I'm assuming lower quality) red dots are tall,,,
This is actually a good thing as the iron sights on my CZ are also somewhat tall.

As the price (and I'm assuming quality) goes up,,,
The red dots seem to get physically smaller in their size.

I'm concerned the front sight will be in the way.

Are these small ones supposed to be for handguns only?

Anyone have any recommendations for me?,,,
Brand and model and possibly a pic will be greatly appreciated.

For your price range I’m looking at Primary Arms and Holosun, or Sig from a reputable dealer, assuming that you’re talking about the popular Aimpoint clones. If you’re talking about the RMR-type sights then I’d be looking at Holosun or maybe Vortex, but Vortex has significantly less battery life.

I’ve owned a bunch over the years and honestly never had a “bad” red dot sight. Granted, you get what you pay for.
Currently, I’m using a couple Aimpoint Micro H1 sights, a Trijicon RMR, and a Holosun 509t, and a second Holosun 509t should be in the mail today.
In my opinion on a quality vs price matrix, Holosun is way to go right now.
Here’s the Holosun. It’s actually designed as a pistol sight, and I had to add an adapter to mount it on a weaver rail. It adds a little height but works fine.
