Elliot T. Everett

- Elliot T. Everett, 33, passed away in his home on Wednesday, January 25, 2012. He was born February 6, 1979 in Santa Ana/Tustin, California to Jeff Kanarek and Regina Everett.

Elliot was a practicing trial lawyer who was admitted to practice in the state of Oklahoma after graduating from Oklahoma City University School of Law in 2005. Elliot began his practice with the personal injury law firm of Foshee and Yaffe before venturing out on his own. Elliot formed The Law Office at Indian Hills in April of 2009, and partnered with OU Law School distinguished graduate and Legal Clinic honor graduate Amanda Higgins in August of 2010 to establish The Law Office at Indian Hills, PLLC. His primary areas of practice were Family Law, Criminal Defense, Auto* Accidents and all matters of personal injury representation.

Elliot graduated from Ft. Gibson High School in 1997 and upon graduation served in the United States Marine Corps. While in the Marines, Elliot served as a Spanish Linguist and an Intelligence Analyst and Reporter. Elliot obtained the rank of Sergeant, and received many decorations, such as: USMC Good Conduct Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, and an NSA Star Award. While serving his country as a non-commissioned officer, Elliot completed his undergraduate work through Wayland Baptist University in 2002.

Elliot, a.k.a. “Sgt. Everett” was an instructor for the Oklahoma Self Defense Act Concealed Carry Gun Course and proprietor of Sgt. Everett's Concealed Carry Classes and Indoor Pistol Range located on I-35 and Indian Hills in Norman.

Elliot is survived by his wife, Amanda of the home; his father, Jeff Kanarek of California; daughter, Mia Everett and her mother, Melissa of Norman; daughter, Taylor Higgins and son, Eli Everett both of Norman; brother, Josh Kanarek of California; sister, Jessica Kanarek of California; grandparents, Shepard and Sally Kanarek; and numerous family and friends. He is preceded in death by his mother, Regina Everett; his grandfather, William Ross Everett; and his grandmother,* Nila June Everett.

Visitation will be held 12:00 – 8:00 p.m., Sunday, January 29, 2012 at Havenbrook Funeral Home, Norman, OK.

Services will be held 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 30, 2012 in the Chapel of the Havenbrook Funeral Home. Interment will be held 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at Ft. Gibson National Cemetery, Ft. Gibson, Oklahoma.
