I have heard some trainers and youTubers say the 3" & 4" 1911's won't run, esp during a training class, 1000 plus rounds a day...
Any feedback on that?

They can run but see, like with any gun, once you start "taking" things from it, there'll be problems. The 1911 was made the way it was so it would work, but once you start shortening the barrel and grip and other things, you'll have problems.
This info I'm giving you isn't from me, my dad is the one that knows.
He's been in the military for 21 years (Retired now) and has always worked with a 1911. So he knows A LOT about them, small 1911's like that can have malfunctions like failure to feel or eject since you don't have the weight of it like a full size 1911.
Some do work, don't get me wrong but it's just not something I'd trust.
