An alternative course of action would have been to down some liquor right quick to get on the same level, or at least close enough that you can take care of business with a clean conscience. When you get old and in a committed relationship and realize you will probably never be able to do stuff like that again, you will regret not taking advantage of that type of opportunity when you could have!

Not projecting at all. Drinking can be fun, can lead to fun, etc. Does anyone really start out the evening thinking that they are going to drink themselves to oblivion? And if they have done it once and suffered the after effects, do they really do it a second time, knowing what the downside is?

While this is likely not the last opportunity with said female, as a happily married man of 12.5 years, I can tell you that with age comes remembrance of missed opportunities. Now, if you are the kind of guy who has 30 or 40 hook ups, then no loss. However, if you have continually been the "good guy" your whole life and you only have 4-5, then you may look back and think "man, I wish I had taken advantage of a few more of those opportunities." Not being douchey, its just the truth. Ask any man who is honest and he will tell you. Especially when you are married and end up sleeping on the couch without a choice.

She was drunk, you weren't, so you made the right call. She did open the door, so I would persue that.

True, not everyone drinks to hide from a problem but common sense would seem to say - you'll remember more of your fun if you're sober or at least not "pass out stinkin' drunk".

Or not taking advantage while she is drunk may score some major points with her. You never can tell which way it will go with women.

Not taking advantage also keeps you from joining the "date rape" club - a woman CANNOT give consent - in a legal sense - while impaired. Therefore if you have sex because "earlier things seemed right and later she didn't say no (while impaired)" you are liable to be charged with 2nd degree rape. So, good choice for morally correct and for self-interested reasons.

A stone-cold sober dude throwing down with a chick who's completely trashed is completely reprehensible. It's one thing for two drunks to go at it and pass out, it's another for a sober dude to bed a chick who passes out during, finish up, throw a blanket over her and go watch Netflix in the living room. OP is a good dude and hopefully the drunk chick sees that.

I've been the most-sober/least-drugged person who had to corral some complete trashed girls in my friend group to safety on several occasions, and I couldn't imagine bedding a girl down I had to basically carry to the car/house. That's some slimebag stuff (providing you're not already banging each other).

Been in your shoes before and I think you definitely did the right thing. However, ya gotta follow up if you want anything more. I may be young but I've learned the down side to being the good guy lesson the hard way.
