The 6.8 Grendel has been in the mix. I'm looking at 2400 fps max. That's short of my 30-06 in 165 grain at 2800 fps, but it is a short action so its a plus.

Depending on the load the Grendel fits right in here

I had a friend who was wanting a .243 in an AR pattern. It's not super-exotic, and I don't know what advantages it might have in certain situations over some of the others mentioned. But it's something you don't hear about in an AR pattern much.


I'm assuming this has to be something you can reload for, right?

I reload everything I shoot, so yes.

Not out of the picture entirely.
If I was overran with pigs or hunted in dense woods, it would probably be 1st choice. My hunting is in the wide open Western part of the state.
