This was designed into the government by the Founding Fathers in various ways. Our government was designed to act slowly, to prevent it from acting on emotion. Unfortunately, they do this all the time now with the president just whipping out an executive order and bypassing the legislative branch or with the legislature passing bills under the premise of "we must act today or the economy will collapse tomorrow", without proper debate or consideration.

I don't think there will be one specific act that will cause the government to turn against us (I think they already are, for that matter). I think we will just wake up one day and it will occur to us that we no longer live in a republic.

Might want to go back over some history.....I know I can come up with SEVERAL governments in the last century who did exactly what some don't believe can happen here.

Does the .gov scare me? Damn right it does. It's run by a bunch of power-hungry idiots with the authoritah to commit violence. Read Mao's comment about power.

Am I concerned about the future? Not so much. We live in interesting times.

To comment on the government enemies. We live in a red state in the bible belt. Government fear, is normal. If your a Democrat, your liberal, if liberal, a socialist. And socialism is an enemy. After all we didnt elect a Democratic president, we elected an enemy.
Until our president is a conservitive republican, both houses controlled by conservitive republicans, and all SC justices are appointed by conservitive republicans, there will be enemies.

I do understand the fear gun people have and share in that concern, but im not scared or fearful.

Like you, i think we will eventually have to address some type of gun control. My hope is that its left up to the states and not the enemy.

Dude, you do realize that the Republicans will strip your rights just as surely as the Democrats, just in a different order, right? Surely you realize that?
