That reminds me of back in college I located a guy giving away a couch that his dad had died on. He said his dad moved in a last few months he was alive and stayed on the couch most of the time. He said he coughed up blood and pissed on it, but that he had cleaned it up. I didn't notice anything so I said I'd take it. I actually didn't have room for it so I called a buddy to come get it for his place since he had just moved out. After we moved it into his place, I told him about it. He looked at it, and said it looked good to him just don't tell the rest of his family.

From that point on it was known as the "dead guy couch". He probably kept it about a decade. There was lots of sex on that couch. LOL

Hopefully with the girl in the white bikini!

Every couple of months here in Ardmore, they have what's called Operation Pride. You can set anything (with exceptions) out by the curb and sometime during the week, the OP truck will come by and pick it up. I've found that almost any item that is not actually trash will be gone long before the truck gets there.

There is an old saying of "One mans Trash is another mans Treasure."
My dad was a systems engineer for a big computer company, and he used to keep the pallets one which they delivered their mainframes and peripherals--I still have a few pieces of furniture that he made out of them. He said the wood in their pallets was a better quality wood than he could get at the local lumber yards, plus it was free.

My buddy in town puts his junk in the "free or barter" section of craigs list or facebook, and sets it out by the curb. Says within the hour, its gone.

I do the same thing. I put out computer cases, parts, good working PC's, etc. and some times, just pure junk. I post it on craigslist for free and some times it is gone before I get the ad published!

I had a job where we got deliveries on pallets made of red oak. I hauled a lowboy loaded down a couple times a year. In the spring for woodworking and in the fall for firewood.

Years ago from the dumpster, I took several of the early PC full bay hard drives. Opened them up and stripped everything out. I then drilled the motor drive spindle hole big enough for a battery clock drive, put a copper disk on for a face plate with no numbers, flipped the circuit board over and screwed it back on.

Just remembered, I still have one in the back bedroom, be right back. (like we are live right?)

No battery, just stored on the memwire shelf.

(OH NO not my orange sock!!!! No, just my dogs chew toy, hard to find a flat space with light that works a little)

Used to dumpster dive back in my youth. Was working as a make ready at a apartment complex. At the end of every semester the kids would be going home and unload some really good stuff in the dumpster, spring was the best time. I'd take it and resale it. I once found a 3 foot tall, winged unicorn statue in solid brass. It was poised on 2 hind legs as ready for flight. Kept that thing for several years, it was guady and hilarious, a great conversation piece. In the end, sold to another.
