Stuff I don't want gets set out by the gate with a free sign. $20 ain't worth the hassle. I guess that since we are out in the country on a moderately busy paved road, nothing sits out there more than one day.

My buddy in town puts his junk in the "free or barter" section of craigs list or facebook, and sets it out by the curb. Says within the hour, its gone.

Everytime a neighbor puts a pile of junk out at the curb for big trash time, there is a constant line of vans stopping with people rummaging through it and hauling half of it off before the truck makes it. Seriously, they have a regular run through the neighborhoods and I'm sure you can find most of this garbage for sale up on Robinson street and Agnew by cowtown. There was a couple spent 20 minutes looking and loading right outside my window the other day. If it wasn't put out for trash they'd have a rude awakening. :pissed:

Reminds me of several years ago when I lived in Tulsa a block of a major road. I decided to do a real clean up of the garage, always had MC and other junk in it, never an auto. Going to take everything out to wash and mop the floors, etc.

Wife is helping me move stuff out onto the drive and a van pulls up and stops. A lady leans out the window and says "you got any endtable lamps?" Took me and my wife a second to realize she thought we were setting up for a sale.

Sometimes you really do not have to advertise.

Most of this stuff is going to flea markets for the most part I'd suspect.

When we had my moms estate auction, the auctioneer knew most of the folks there. I suspect they are regular flea market dealers.

As in most auctions, some folks wanted one item from a box of items, and left the rest. One lady came back the next day and cleaned up the yard, and garage, actually bagging up the trash and putting it in the alley so she could take the stuff left after the auction.

I came back to the house the next day when she was doing this. Told her thanks, and when she left to please shut the garage door, and she did!

I wish more people in town would take after you and post their stuff for sale on CL and FB instead of dumping in the ditches out somewhere in rural America. Passed a freshly dumped crapper in the ditch this evening! Surely somebody who'd buy a used mattress would buy a used crapper wouldn't they?

Some of the old ones bring a premium because they are not low volume flushers.

People in Canada buy them at a premium.

The contractor that did our remodel took our 80's model to help him make a little more $$

No need to fight over it, I'll give you both the directions to it.........first come first serve! :thumbup3:

We did a total home remodel three years ago.

Living in the country, we operate off a well and water softener.

I dreaded losing our high volume toilets as we have a septic system.

We bought the newest high dollar low volume toilets from Lowes, and I have not been happier.

Our well doesn't kick on as often so that is saving us money, and the toilets work great.

My brother-in-law left the nastiest, dirtiest, stained-with-god-knows-what ugly-ass dead grandmother's recliner at my house after he and my SIL moved out. I kept telling them to come get it but there were always excuses. After months of having it sit in the corner of the living room, I got tired of looking at it and having it's nastiness inside the house and I moved it outside where it sat exposed to the elements for a few more weeks. Finally, big trash day was coming so I just hauled it to the curb.

It was gone in half an hour.

I think he said his grandmother died in it...
