For you folks that have ringing in the ears, does it get to the point that it is nerve racking to have to hear it all the time. I have just about stopped hunting as it is hard to hear which direction sounds are comeing from because of this danged ringing.

I actually thought the computer cooling fans were going out on my old computer.this ringing is about to drive me nuts.

I live with it everyday. I have to have a fan running in bedroom at night to offset the ringing or I could not sleep. I wish there was something I could do to fix it. As for hunting I have used a Walker Game ear and it helped big time for hearing better.

years ago you never really heard anything about it "tennitus" but you find ways to block it out after years of dealing with it, 2B how long have you had it?

I live with it every day. Most of the damage to my ears was from my time in the military(21yrs) an after all kinds of tests there's not much they can do for it. I've already been told I have enough hearing loss to require hearing aid's, and the best to help with the loss and ringing are the multi-directional ones. I'm going to have to wait for VA to pay for those.

Yep. I deal with it every day, and much like PowerMan, I have to leave a movie running to get to sleep.

Mine started after I worked at a feedmill for while. We had hammer mills that ground corn-imagine 2 canoe paddles made of steel welded end to end, spinning at 1k+ RPM, and the corn is fed into it. They run at about 115 decibels, and my young dumb azz went in there a few times without hearing protection.

I guess really I'm fortunate I'm not deaf, but my ringing is sufficient that stuff like a 3000# steam line is below my tinnitus levels on average.

Most of the time it's a double edged sword. I can't hear my wife in the next room of the house, but I can't hear my wife in the next room of the house. . .:D

I have slight tinnitus. It started in junior high working with tools that I should have used hearing protection with (i.e. grinders, saws, etc.). It got a little bit worse while at my previous job because my office was shared with most of the network equipment (including the servers) in a rack.

What's interesting is the tones are different left and right. My left ear is an F, while my right is almost an A-flat for an interval of a minor third.

I just recently had another series of tests done, and on the dual graphs it looks like a couple of rouge waves about to crash into each other. Even though I wear plugs and muff's when shooting my hearing is bad that even slight loud noises are doing damage.
