I put out my first Tactacam this year. I like the ability to connect directly to it via my phone when close to make sure the view is setup correctly. I wish I could use the same external power source connection as I do on my other cameras, but I caved and bought the proprietary solar charger.
I use a lawn mower battery with alligator clip cord. It will last about a year taking several dozen pics a day for about 5 months of that year. Cord was $15 iirc. Any solar panel will work and there's off brand cords that will work out there.

I tried 2 Herd360 solar set ups here behind my house for a couple weeks before I left them 500 miles from home a month before the opening of archery season, and I can assure you if I didn’t think they would work I definitely wouldn’t have put them out at this time of the year.
They’re a self contained solar panel/lithium battery combo, and cables are included for every brand of camera. For what I used to spend on lithium AA batteries, this set up is cheap.

I'm running three Tactacams with the Tactacam solar panels that have lithium batteries inside, plus the batteries internal to the cam which are also rechargeable lithium batteries.
They are used for security cams when we are gone on the road, taking thousands of pics of waving tree limbs, and insects at night, but the batteries remain at 100% charge. Newest feature puts the current local weather on the pic.
Very sharp pics. Sharp enough I can read a license plate as a vehicle drives by.
It's about time to start throwing some corn as soon as my supplier gets some cleaned, so I'll move the cams to the farms.
