Once cows start going through wire and find corn, you just about have to use panels to deter them.
Yep, we’ve ran this enclosure for 5 years up until the owner moves the cows with no issues. I’ll have invest in panels for next year. Talked to the owners, he’s down with a twisted ankle. He said he’d try to get his guys to move them this weekend

Moving cows is better than panels. Lol

The owner doesn’t move them until the last minute to save hay. We like to start throwing corn in July. It’s a bit of a hassle but this year has sucked the worst
Might be worth asking if he has any panels laying around unused. Help him save hay and you save with not having to buy panels.

I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't shot in leg by rifle.
Tracked 2 last year. Caught up to one that had lost both front legs. It went a little more than 200 yards and contrary to what you think, other than hair, bone and a little meat at hit site it didn't have a noticeable blood trail as I followed Jax.

The other was a one leg it and it bled decently well for awhile but it clotted up and stopped bleeding much.

On a leg hit (rifle) it is critical to go after it ASAP to keep it struggling and bleeding. Keeping it moving it needs good blood flow to keep oxygen moving. If it has a chance to slow down and calm down it will help it stop bleeding. They get around surprisingly well on 3 legs.
