Wow, you really are only concerned about yourself, aren't you?

If you had even a basic knowledge of economics you would understand that the minimum wage is a price floor for labor.

All a price floor does in the case of minimum wage is create unemployment because it is set above what the equilibrium price would be without it.

Thus all those unemployed folk you are so concerned about are unemployed because the minimum wage is higher than employers can or are willing to pay for their skill set.

Of course they can all go on welfare rather than work since welfare in many cases pays better. The result of that stupidity is that congress has created a whole class of people who would rather be dependent on the government than themselves.

Ahhhhh WELL!

The road to hell is paved with good intentions they say.

That seems more than true these days.

Werewolf, I honestly feel dumber having debated with you. I will leave this be as it's painfully obvious that you have no concern for anyone other than yourself.

I agree with this post in its entirety.

In fact, I recently had a friend who finally got a job. She hasn't had a job in 6 years. They've lived off her husband's minimum wage (doesn't stay at a job long enough to get a raise) and the welfare checks for four kids. I guess she decided that a fifth wasn't worth it.

These people complained about not having enough money for food, no time to work overtime or get a second job, and in the same sentence talk about "just enough gas to go camping this weekend"... did I mention 8-10 cats and dogs, depending on what ran off and what showed up? And sometimes kittens and puppies from natural sources?

The difference between us, Shootin', is obvious. I believe in a hand up to those in need and teaching them to stand on their own two feet and giving them the tools to adapt to changing circumstances.

You seem to believe in hand outs, whining about circumstance and blaming everyone but those who find themselves in less than desirable circumstances for finding themselves there due to their own inabilities to learn, change and adapt.

Self reliance vs Nanny State.

Personally - I'll take self reliance and freedom over nanny state and serfdom any day.
