Adapt or die? We have citizens that do not have the ability or intellect to adapt and change the way that you do.

They can dig ditches, work at Burger King, clean bed pans in hospitals.

If on the other hand you're saying that everyone has the right to a good living then I say you're wrong. You play the hand you're dealt the best you can. You adapt if possible. If not accept your lot and move on.

Do we ignore their needs, protect their means of supporting themselves or do we adapt to socialism?

Not everyone can play pro-football, or be a doctor or even has the capacity to be a stocker at walmart. That's life. It just sucks to be them and it isn't my job nor anyone elses to provide for 'em because GOD dealt 'em a crappy hand.

On the other hand there are the infirm, mentally handicapped, people injured doing their part and the best they can. those folks society has a moral duty to provide for. Others not so much.

Everyone needs a hand up sometimes - but those who expect it all the time just because life hasn't met their expectations can go urinate up the proverbial thick threaded cord.

The nannies in congress will never let it reach the equilibrium price it should achieve based on the demand for unskilled labor.

Which is one reason all those manufacturing jobs manned by no or low skill workers moved overseas that you are so worried about.

The minimum wage is just a starting point. If someone remains at minimum wage after 6 months on the job, they either are not doing a good job or they need to find somewhere else to work their efforts are appreciated.

We seem to have lost view of the fact that we are all responsible for our own actions. The taxpayers don't owe the lazy and welfare portion of our economy anything, even though the Nannies in DC think we do.

I have no problem with helping someone who has lost his job and is seriously looking for work. Unfortunately we have now created a perpetual unemployment class who are happy drawing their checks for an unlimited time period.
