Something that has been bothering about the whole Akin thing, was he payed to throw the election?

1) First the three Republicans running against Claire McCaskill were all leading her in the polls.
2) Next the Dems including Claire McCaskill bought over 1 million dollars worth of ads to support Akin in the primaries.
3) Akin wins the primary with 34% of the vote in an open state with many Dems reportedly voting for Akin.
4) Next Akin says something so dumb it is hard to believe anyone could say it thus blowing the 11 point lead he had over Claire McCaskill.
5) Then Akin refuses to drop out when everybody but the Dems are urging him to.

To me the whole thing smells very fishy and I have to wonder if Akin was paid or blackmailed into throwing the race.

Rick have you been sippin Reddog1's kool-aid?

I hate to hold you to a higher standard, usually your comments are grounded, but this is really giving Dems alot of undue credit.

Maybe he's just an idiot?

I'm going with this. How someone in this day and age can not understand the most rudimentary aspects of basic human biology is beyond me. WTF is wrong with people??

I think that's just the point right there. For the record I think he's an idiot too, but what he said is soooooooo "out there", one just has to at least wonder. Just a little bit anyway.

or blackmailed into throwing the race.

He was blackmailed. The Liberals told him that if he didn't bite the bullet and go along with this spiel, they'd spill the beans on all the crazy scientifically impossible things Republicans believe; like creationism, absence of climate change, unlimited oil reserves within our borders, futility of vaccines, fracking being complete safe for groundwater... :D

Actually though, in all seriousness, the dude is a whack job. The Dems get Weiner among others, The Repubs get Akin among others. Every party's got their own share of lunatics thrown in.
