Sure, I'd like an M-16 that doesn't cost $20,000, but you can bet your boots I'm not gonna break that law. Sure, I don't agree with the law. Doesn't give me a right to break it. I'm too pretty, and more importantly, so are my kids. My kids and my freedom are not worth the risk. Is smoking pot more important than your kids? If so, the priorities in that enviorment are not in the best intrest of the child. So I say again; selfish, selfish parents.

If they did that then I would support having the kids taken away, especially if the kid was 11. However, pot doesn't magically turn you into a totally different person and remove all sense of responsibility. Alcohol causes losses in judgment too. Do you smoke cigarettes when you drink? I sure do. However, while someone who's drunk around their kids (and smoking cigarettes in the house) sure won't win Mother/Father of the Year, they won't have their children taken away.

I haven't touched any illegal drugs in quite a long time, but I will tell you right now that, by far, the dumbest and most dangerous sh*t I've ever done was fueled by Wild Turkey and Pall Malls.

Agreed. Pot is about as dangerous as booze is, and I would treat a parent the same if they were providing either to an 11 year old child. But these guys weren't, so there's no evidence they were unfit parents.

My point is that a charge like misdemeanor possession doesn't warrant having your kids taken away. I'm not even trying to argue that pot should be legalized. They should pay the fine or do the community service or whatever people do there, but being separated from their parents really isn't in the kids' best interest.

How do you know that the kid was not loved beyond belief and had everything he needed in life to succeed but was brainwashed into believing the Government knew better.

Edit: At least there is a small amount of reason on here, still I do not understand how even though it may be "ILLEGAL" may I remind you so is leaving your Dog's poop in the public park, there are a lot of LAWS, not a whole lot of REASON or LOGIC to them all though.

Side note: just because the kid found the stuff doesn't mean her parents GAVE her the stuff. Kids find stuff. That's one of the things they're good at.
