One of my coworkers posted some drivel about wanting to tell his boss to let him go home. I happen to see this on one of my 12 union mandated 30 minute breaks. I posted that I'd tell his boss that he's been using his p-card at strip clubs and that his boss would probably let him go home after that.

If you lie, cheat and are generally dishonest, you will need to be very consistent and diligent with the postings on your facebook page to keep everything in your charade from falling down. You might consider reviewing some of our presidents speeches when looking for the wording to go into your posts.

Sorry, but slander, libel, defamation of character and maliciously impacting someone's professional reputation are certainly in the realm of crimes.

Just because someone is "on their own time" does not mean that what they do has no impact on their work or employment.

Try using that excuse when you get a DUI.

You can ***** and complain all you want in a public place. But remember, that is public and when it impacts someone's reputation, that crosses a line. In private, that is a different set of circumstances. I public, you have no reasonable assumption of privacy.

As an employer and owner, I think that I have every right to protect my investment. Unlike some other might think, I did build it. You are more than welcome to exercise your freedom of choice and not work for me.

You might think differently when it is your name, your reputation and your investment that is at stake.

I agree 100%. It's a public forum, they made it public, so it's fair game.

The two examples with the women provided earlier are pretty cut and dry, and mot really what Im talking about. What about someone posting their opinion about marijuana but is not a user or a presidential candidate their boss severly dislikes. It can be abused not only by employees but employers.

Couldn't the argument be made that Facebook simply reflects the person posting to it?

If you get fired for the dumb crap you stick on FB, it is fair to say that YOU are being fired, not your Facebook page.

Chances are the dumb crap comes out of your mouth whether it's posted to FB or not. You might be the type to get fired/arrested/have your teeth kicked in without it, so why play the victim?

First let me say that I deleted my facebook account years ago. I have seen facebook postings used to fire people. They were fired for caused a disruption in the workplace due to the fact they were posting their disdain for co-workers and the client on their facebook.

As a general rule I would say it's not right but under certain circumstances I can see merit. Either way...Don't friend your co-workers if you are going to talk chit about them later.

Oh it's still there, they have every post, message and comment you have ever made. Zimmerman found that out the hard way. Only the courts can get acess
