When I was younger bacon grease was used for fried okra.
It's just the old Betty Crocker red & white cookbook recipe with some tweaks. I just double it, dial back the vinegar a little because of the wife, use a pound of bacon, and a few more boiled eggs than what's called for. In other words, use the BC recipe as a base and cook to taste.
I found a BC recipe for Hot German Salad. Is that the right one?
