Tell me about Keurig coffee makers please. Anyone own one? Do you like it? Easy to make a cup of tea or coco? I am thinking of buying or trading for one as we have no coffee maker at the moment and do not drink enough for a regular machine. I might want a cup of coffee every month or two as a hold over habit from my construction days. Wife does like hot tea a lot. I figure something like a Keurig or similar would be all we need and with all our daughters stuff we have to sell I should be able to afford or trade for a reasonably priced machine.

We've had three Keurig units over the years, all developed miscellaneous internal pump/electrical failures after a year or two. Finally in 2018 bought a Cuisinart SS-10P1 K-cup brewer. Much easier to use, faster, does plain hot water of selectable temp for teas and broths, large clear plastic removeable (washable) filtered reservoir, makes great coffee, and has been 100% trouble free for 6 years now. Not cheap at $150+, but cry once, buy once. As a comparison, we paid over $500 for the three Keurigs over the years (all failed after warranty expired). One possible caveat: We are on a hard water well and NEVER put well water in the coffee makers, always bottled water.

Cuisinart make great small kitchen appliances. I don't think $150 is out of line given it's used every day.

Hell, if a cup or two a month will do ya, just pop on down to your local Casey's or whatever stop-n-rob you prefer, and buy a cup there. :ugh2:
Won't generate as much trash that way, either. SWMBO likes Turkish coffee. We bought this kit several years ago: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01K0BBSCC
We lived in Turkey in the mid-80's. I watched Memet, the waiter in our favorite restaurant, make coffee for her hundreds of times. Fill the pot with water, add 1 teaspoon of coffee grounds, and bring it to a boil three times. Takes about 5 minutes. Refills are getting more expensive the way we buy them: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B003WLY4HO it's nearly twice as expensive as it was when we bought the last batch in March, but still have two and a third cans sitting here.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B003WLY4HO this goes nice in Turkish coffee, but you can mix your own, as well.

And if you need a particularly hard kick in the pants, use two teaspoons of grounds.

We had a business-grade Keurig where I used to work, and it worked well enough. It wasn’t great coffee, but there was a variety of k-cups available, including a couple of varieties of coffee, and non-coffee drinks like decaf, flavored coffees, and even cider. There might’ve been tea k-cups as well, but tea is only fit for dumping in the harbor, so I wouldn’t know about that.

Where they bust the sod in South Tulsa County.
We bought a Keurig Elite about 5 years ago. On first one, when the auto start feature would activate it would dump the entire reservoir into the cup. Keurig sent me another one and it did the same thing. They sent me a 3rd and it did the same thing. Now I do not use the auto start feature.
You would probably be satisfied with the basic model. The K-cups have an expiration date so don't buy large quantities of K-cups.

For that little use, I would recommend an electric kettle and a pour-over cone for the coffee. Any recipe that needs hot water and the kettle comes into play there as well.

K Cups are nothing more than instant coffee. Keurig 'pours' hot water through it. Just buy some instant coffee for a couple bucks and pour your own hot water in and stir. Same thing with less fuss.
Nope...

The place I buy mine from doesn't even roast the beans until I order from them. Every K cup I've ever had was real ground coffee. I'll grant you that some taste like garbage.

OP, my Keurig has replaced my Bialetti mocha pot just for its ease of use. Love the thing and will buy another if it goes tits up.
