What's good to do in Kansas City, KS?

On my way ther with the wife this morning and don't want to stay here all day, but I'm looking for either a good place to sit down and get something to eat before we leave, or maybe just a cup of coffee or see like... maybe one site before we get out of there.

What's the one thing you would do if you were to stop off in KC for a day?

Couple of good BBQ places... Oklahoma Joe's or Gates bbq...down near The Plaza.. Really good food.

I've lived in Olathe if you count being there a month at a time, on/off throughout the year Here's some quick hits for a day trip:

Since you are on the KS side, you can hit up OK Joes (one off 119th in Olathe, or the original one in the gas station), the Cabelas (by the speedway), there's an damn good Korean joint off Shawnee Mission ( http://www.sobahnkc.com/Sobahn/home.html ). Mestizo, in Leawood ( http://www.mestizoleawood.com/ ) is good Mexican if a bit fancy - it's an Aaron Sanchez creation. But better than Joe's (which they have in Broken Arrow, by the way), you want Jack Stack ( http://www.jackstackbbq.com/restaurants/a/850/ ). Get the corn bake for one of your sides.

Instead of Cabela's, if you can sneak to the MO side, this is worth seeing if they are open on Saturday: http://www.theworldwar.org/s/110/new/index_community.aspx

For coffee, this place in Leawood is supposed to be good ( http://www.theroasterie.com/cafes ) but I never made it there to try. So I cant guarantee. But all others places here I have patroned, and would say are worth a visit.



If I had to pick one thing, I would try the WWI museum if you have the time. If not, then either cut over east to the Jack Stack for a mea in Overland Park. If time is too limited then hit OK Joes off 119th on the way out of town (assuming you are taking 169),

What's the one thing you would do if you were to stop off in KC for a day? -------> Gas the bike back up and go somewhere nice. Little woman would not complain, she like to sit back there and uh, well not sure what she is doing but she SURE DOES SEEM HAPPY DOING IT!
