Unlike the Marines the Army is lacking in fixed wing aircraft. Hell, the Marine Corps invented close air support and is the first US military branch to fly our newest fighter, the F35 in combat. With our amphibious assault ships and the F35 we can now conduct missions (on a limited basis) that only our Navy sisters were able to conduct just a few years ago.

Quite so. But it's not just the vast fleets of our Army and Navy that our enemies had to fear, oh no! Some may not know, but the Marine Corps has quite the seagoing fleet too! They were called "Inflatable Boat, Small", or simply IBS. Most often referred to from within as "Itty Bitty Ships." These seaworthy craft were designed to be propelled by a small outboard motor, however, in keeping with the spirit and standards of the Corps, ours were most often paddle-powered.

Yours were paddle-powered because the powers that be figured that you and your cohorts would have just used them as "bumper-boats" if you had motors.

Last U.S. ground troop fatality from enemy aircraft: April 15th 1953.

The only thing more expensive than the most powerful air force on the planet, is the second most powerful air force on the planet.

Hellsyeah! The times we did get to use outboard motors, that was exactly what we did, we would see if we could ram the other team's boat hard to enough to capsize them. Great fun.
