There is no statute of limitations on bench warrants they are valid in perpetuity, there is a statute of limitations on how long a prosecutor has to press charges, with the exception of murder.

So the question is were you charged within the statutory time limit? If so then the warrant is valid and you will have to defend against the domestic violence charge.

Absolutely whatever else you do, get a lawyer and have them handle it. You might be VERY sorry if you don't! The Lautenberg Amendment will bar you from owning firearms for life if you have a misdemeanor domestic violence conviction on your record. Domestic violence charges are nothing to screw around with, do it right!

See if the lawyer can get the case dismissed and the bench warrant voided.
