I apologize for not being able to state my concerns very well. I am certainly afraid that we are going to lose in this. Every time one of these things happens, the calls get louder and before much longer the .order voices will win out. I do not support any of the currently proposed red-flag type laws, and I have no solutions that I would propose, but I do believe, with all the knowledge that exists with our national community of like minded individuals, there may well be a solution. I have never liked the idea of ignoring a problem without at least attempting to solve it.
I have no answer either as most of the mass shooting have been committed by someone legally allowed to purchase or own a firearm, or stole it.
There is zero method available to justify taking a personal defense weapon away from any law abiding citizen if they have not been adjudicated of some mental issue by a court previously.
People snap or harbor long term issues that cause them to snap, but the Constitution doesn't allow for thought police if you feel angry one day and decide to kill the next.
Most of these have been people that may be a little "different" that get bullied and decide to take revenge on society at the point of losing their own life in doing so.
The grocery store shooter had to be talked out of swallowing a firearm by LEO. Personally I would have encouraged it, but that is not allowed in their training.
If your so distraught by society why kill innocents? Part of it is wanting to go down in history like Klebold and Harris from the Colorado school shooting.
They wanted their names to go down in infamy. Why? IMHO, that is what needs to be figured out.
Why do suicidal people want to go down in infamy with a body count to accompany them? Figure that out and we may have a solution to what is causing this mass shooting issue.

I wish there was a solution, but quite frankly, there isn't one. As I said before, you would have to immediately remove the firearms from a person who poses a threat to the public, and you can not do that without violating several constitutionally protected rights. I'm sorry to say, but a person's belongings should never be taken UNLESS they have been charged with a crime. There can be no other acceptable course of action.

It sounds like you are not aware of the current versions of games. Body count is the name of the game. It isn’t one thing, it’s all of this together, and then we add all the hatred from the various political extremes. Yes, even the way some translate “ you’ll have to fight like hell”. Everyone’s getting mad these days. Shoot, look at some of the extremes we post on here.
Oh I'm well aware of the current versions of games. Heck, I played the earliest video games too. That doesn't mean that video games turn people into killers. Now, your point about the extremes....and that its right here on the board.... well, I'll agree with that part. This whole boards postings have shifted majorly extremist since I first signed up IMHO. (Note that I have specified postings rather than "all members of the board".) I've got multiple warning points for getting into fights pointing that out. Props to the mod who gave double non-expiring points on that one too. Really showed how that has shifted too IMHO.

Fights? You can get into discussions without gaining warning points by taking the discussion attitude vs fight attitude and make the same points for your side.

I don‘t know the answer to these shootings. As the world population grows, so does the fringe and radical elements.

Early warning signs of a deranged individual seems to be a common theme, at least for the last few mass shootings. Maybe when a red flag (as was the case here and in several other cases) is raised to LEO, it should be investigated and the individual kept under surveillance for at least a year without any confiscation or infringement of their rights. In the event of a false or frivolous reported red flag situation, that reporting individual would face serious legal consequences.

It should be a felony with serious jail time IMHO, but there are courts that offer judgments according to their personal political beliefs.
There are constitutional judges that believe in that document as they should, and there are those that take personal anti-gun political beliefs and rule accordingly.
So, taking your comment that I quoted, before a judge in commiefornika vs one in Oklahoma, how do you think the rulings would differ?

I understand your point and believe the courts would differ significantly. As I said, I don’t know the answer to the problem other than to handle it at the state / local level. Some states are just beyond help. Others, like Oklahoma, can still make rational decisions.

Damn where to start.

The shooter in NY posted what he was going to do online, every detail, yet no one that read what he posted did anything. Seems to me that if a person posts the evil they are going to do that someone would have spoken up. Nope silence

I dont put all the blame on video games, BUT I do believe they play a small part, along with violence in movies and music. If a person listens to, reads or is entertained by such content it is my belief that you become desensitized to actual real life events.

More laws will not stop the evil that is in mens hearts. Yes what we are seeing is a condition of the heart and spirit, these attacks are a spiritual attack. We fight against principalities and powers enthroned in high places. We as a nation need to stop, repent, seeks gods face and forgiveness.

Pain is the reason for these events. More pain is the end result. If you want to have an effect on stopping this kind of thing, start in your own social circle, and reach out to those you know in need. Feeling social connections is paramount to emotional health in modern society. As individuals (especially immature individuals) lose faith in an ability to connect with others, their ability to empathize with others fails. Lack of empathy leads to depression, and depression leads to bitterness.
It's a soul-sucking centrifuge of self-loathing that too frequently leads to bitter resentment.

I don't have any ultimate answers to what we should all do about this, but I do know that the "body politic" is not going to be able to come up with a solution. The solution isn't in laws.....the solution is in personal connections, and the effort that we put into them.
