I have a gen4 23 that choked within the first box of ammo. My 1911 Springfield in 38 super rocked all day with shooting star mags. That's all the proof I need.

This out of the box qualification might be a problem. I understand a 1911 needs lube to run reliably.

Straight out of the box to me means no disassembly for a good lube job.

Glock wins like that.

Ehh , a spray bottle of remsoil will keep the 1911 wet and cool.

The problem is gonna be the choice of 1911
the higher end , what most will pick, is going to be too tightly fitted
The right middle end, springer , rem, ria, mebbe a tauri , loose enough that it might not swell in the heating

mag issues , both ways ....should be interesting.... 8)

Gotta love people that perpetuate the dumb myths...
