I have a gen4 23 that choked within the first box of ammo. My 1911 Springfield in 38 super rocked all day with shooting star mags. That's all the proof I need.
This out of the box qualification might be a problem. I understand a 1911 needs lube to run reliably.
Straight out of the box to me means no disassembly for a good lube job.
Glock wins like that.
