And one day this may well be used on us.

It’s why I cringe every time I see some new war technology come out, and everyone woots and brags at how awesome it is. I always wonder if people never consider that this new technology may well be used on them one day. Remember, the enemy is whoever the leadership says it is.

This is America, you're free to leave at any time.

I don't get it; CJJ brings up a valid point, though I look at it more from the perspective that today's US technology can be tomorrow's enemy's technology. Are we to respond to thoughtful comments with a knee-jerk jingoist remark that adds nothing constructive to the argument?

Apaches orbit as well. The guys we encountered were never this stupid. First off, they would never fight at night because they have no night vision capability. Second, the guys we fought were "smart" enough to know the sound of an Apache. The most commonly used birds are Blackhawks, Apaches and Chinooks. All 3 have a distinct sound.

They are fighting at night because they are on the defense. The Apaches were supporting an SF attack on a Talib compound.

On the distinctive sounds of our commonly used rotor craft; I was out with my nephew around 19th and I35 a couple of weeks ago and heard what I thought was a Chinook. Well, hes pretty young and his dad is in the Air Force so I turned to point it out to him only to see a V22 passing about 2000 feet AGL a mile or so away. It was cool to see one, but I felt like a dolt for noticing the difference.
